Slide on down to Pets at Home reptile event

THE Talnotry Avian Care Trust (TACT) will be holding a reptile event at Pets at Home in Newtownabbey's Longwood Retail Park on Saturday, May 1.

The aim of the fun day is to raise money and awareness for the Crumlin-based TACT charity.

Pets at Home also has its own charity which provides financial support to the many rescue centres which do a tremendous job of finding new homes for deserving pets.

For years now Pets at Home has supported a wide range of such charities and with the help of customers, store employees and suppliers - and a lot of hard work - they have raised in excess of 1.3 million for organisations like Hearing Dogs, Dogs for the Disabled and The Blue Cross.

TACT operates a voluntarily run Wildlife Centre in Crumlin where it cares for and rehabilitates sick, injured and abandoned wild birds and mammals. The Trust's primary aim is to return birds and mammals back to the wild where practicable.

Pets at Home hope to raise the profile of TACT through Saturday’s event, whilst at the same time educating local people on responsible reptile ownership. Rescued reptiles and other wildlife will be available to see and hold and there will be face painting and lucky dips for the children between 11am and 5pm on the day.
