SLIDESHOW: Saturday nights flooding in Ballycastle

Following Saturday nights flooding in the Glenshesk/Armoy Glen area SDLP Councillor Dónal Cunningham, has called on the Rivers Agency and Roads Service to urgently assess the flooding risks before it occurs again.

Cllr Cunningham who was quickly on the scene as residents battled with the elements to make sure flood water did not enter their homes, said: “The Glenshesk River burst its banks in a number of places, threatening some houses, livestock and property. Thankfully Rivers Agency were quick on the scene with the supply of sandbags to prevent ensure the flood water did not enter the houses.

“In one instance this is the third flood occurrence in less than five years and I am calling on Rivers Agency to urgently assess the flood risk so that any future risk is effectively managed.”
