SlurryKat takes top accolade at last ever awards ceremony

A local engineering company scooped three awards at this year’s last ever Craigavon Business Awards.

SlurryKat based just outside Laurencetown, took accolades for Manufacturing Excellence, Best Export Initiative and the prestigious 2014 Craigavon Legacy Award for highest achieving business within the borough.

The high-profile gala ceremony, organised by Craigavon Borough Council, was held last Wednesday April 9 in Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre, hosted by the BBC’s Jim Fitzpatrick.

SlurryKat is a market leader in the design and engineering of specialist slurry-handling equipment for the agricultural industry worldwide.

The company has experienced exponential growth since 2008 as it continues to spread its dealer network across the globe.

Through technical excellence and quality products, the firm is now competing on a global scale, exporting over 140 product lines to 20 different countries.

The company is no stranger to success on this platform with this being the third successive year it has come away with an award. That track record of success was acknowledged this year as SlurryKat was awarded the 2014 Craigavon Legacy Award, which went to the highest achieving business since the awards were launched in 2010.

SlurryKat’s CEO Garth Cairns who lives in Gilford accepted the Legacy award from Mayor of Craigavon Councillor Mark Baxter.

Mr Cairns said: “I am absolutely delighted to win these awards. To come away with not one but three awards on the night is just incredible and a credit to the entire SlurryKat team.”

He added: “These awards reaffirm our commitment to engineering world-class equipment for the agricultural industry, not only locally but internationally.

“We have really established the export side of the business over the past year and to be recognised in this way just makes everything worthwhile.”

The firm growing portfolio of equipment comprises dribble bars, tankers, silage and grain trailers, pumping systems, reelers, parts and accessories.
