Small packet of cannabis found in his boxer shorts

When a Lurgan man was searched at the police station a small packet of cannabis was found in his boxer shorts.

Michael Evans (21), whose address was given to the court as Drumnamoe Gardens, Lurgan, was fined £150 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for possession of a class B drug on January 3 this year.

He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that a car containing three males was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint on the Tandragee 
Road and there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from the car.

A search came up negative but at Lurgan police station a small clear packet contained a green leaf product was found in the defendant’s boxer shorts.

Evans had a relevant conviction on his record.

A solicitor representing Evans said he had a caution for a similar offence.

He added that he was back in court again the following week for a similar offence and this was an issue he needed to address otherwise the court’s patience would run out on him.
