Smalltown America to open doors to public

On September 27 (doors 8pm) audiences will have an opportunity to witness a very special, recorded performance from a mystery musical guest, at Smalltown America’s studio on the Bay Road.

“We want people to feel immersed in the music,” Director Andrew Ferris explains. “The magic that happens in a studio when the red recording light goes on is indescribable.”

He added: “We are lucky now to have such a beautiful space for our artists to perform in and have the ability to invite audience members to get close and personal to a band.

“These are not gigs in the traditional sense, they more provide the chance for an artist to talk about their work, try new material or improvise.

“At our first studio show PØRTS wowed us all with their new songs for an as yet unreleased album. This is the kind of experience that is impossible to have in a traditional gig setting.”

Tickets for the show are strictly limited to 50, cost £10 and are available online from the label’s eStore www.independentmusic.com or from Cool Discs, Foyle St.

Are there any clues to who this month’s mystery guest might be?

“It’s part of the fun of the night,” Andrew continued.

“We want people to sit back, relax with friends and have a unique experience, enjoying brand new music. The scene is full of fantastic new artists and through this series we will be shining a light on the best of them.”

Established in 2001, Smalltown America has been responsible for launching the careers of some of Northern Ireland’s most notable rock artists: And So I Watch You From Afar, Fighting With Wire, Jetplane Landing and LaFaro among them.
