Smiles for these charity workers

A LEADING member of a Christian charity that helps the underprivileged in Eastern Europe has given a warm thank-you to all who supported a recent barbecue and dance which raised a huge amount for the organisation.

Barbara Morrison, the Development Associate for the Smiles Foundation for Northern Ireland and Eire, described the response to the event at the family home on the Toberdoney Road near Liscolman as fantastic.

Scores of supporters of the Smiles Foundation gave generously on the night and there was an added bonus less than a week later when Ballymoney Male Voice Choir presented Barbara with a cheque for £1000, the proceeds of the annual concert in the town several months ago.

Dr. John Johnston and other leading members of the Choir handed over the cheque at the Town Hall and, again, Barbara was full of praise for the generous gesture.

She said the money would go a long way in assisting the work of the Smiles Foundation which has grown into one of the largest Mission Charities in Romania with more than 1500 people helped every day.

They are assisted through more than 20 different projects, served by nearly 80 Romanian staff.
