Smoking checks carried out

A RECENT meeting of the district council's environmental services committee learned that during January the Tobacco Control Officer paid routine visits to premises in the Dromore and Rathfriland areas.

In all 15 premises were visited as part of routine out of hours compliance with the provisions of the smoke-free legislation.

They included 12 bars, one amusement arcade and two bookmakers.

It was reported that all premises displayed the correct signage but two required follow-up in relation to evidence of smoking in a side entry.
