Snow and ice delays athletes

STRANORLAR was scheduled to host the opening of 2010 this Saturday but the continuing freezing ground conditions meant the race was postponded, on Monday afternoon.

It’s hoped the race will be reschuled for Saturday, January 30, at the same Donegal venue.

Meanwhile looking ahead, the second leg of the local Primary Schools cross country league will be staged in St Columb’s Park on Friday, January 15. There was a massive turn out at the first-leg race pre Christmas at the Sports Complex with runners of all abilities from eleven local Primary Schools turning out in force.

Top three in the first race were Chloe Harrigin of Holy Family PS, Kerri McCallion of St Patricks PS and Claire Doherty of St Therese PS. Longtower PS pupil Christpoher McLaughlin led home the boys ahead of Ronan Doherty of St Therese PS and Shea McDevit of Holybush PS
