So You Think You Can Dance (for Haiti) proves to be great success

SATURDAY night was dance night once again at the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine as So You Think You Can Dance (for Haiti) took the floor.

Following the success of last week's dance night in aid of the Changaro Trust, the nine amateur dance acts stepped out again this week to raise money for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Family, friends and supporters packed the hall to watch Bollywood, salsa, Irish dance, line dancing, street dance, a waltz, a jive, an American Smooth and a cha cha.

The dancers just had seven weeks training to prepare for the performance before judges Fr Raymond McCullagh, local councillor Maura Hickey and BBC broadcaster Grant Cameron.

After the performances, audience members were able to buy votes for the dancers who impressed them most. The team attaining the most votes (and more importantly the most money for Haiti) were then announced as winners - and it was the Hollywood Crew.

Last week's charity night has raised - to date - more than 8,000 for the Changaro Trust and Saturday night's event raised more than 2,700 for the Haiti Earthquake Appeal.

Well done to the organisers, contestants, sponsors and supporters who helped to raise such a fantastic amount of money.
