Social Development Minister praises Resurgam Trust

Social Development Minister, Mervyn Storey MLA, has commended the work of the Resurgam Community Development Trust in developing social enterprises for Lisburn.

Following funding of £438,423 by the Department for Social Development, the Resurgam Community Development Trust developed a pilot social economy growth project which has generated three new social enterprise businesses, and created ten employment opportunities.

Speaking ahead of the Resurgam Community Development Trust’s AGM, Mr Storey said: “The social enterprise model developed at Resurgam is an innovative one, and one that I believe can be replicated across other areas. This is an active and energised community and I would commend the Trust and everyone involved for the huge progress that they have made.”

Adrian Bird, Director of the Resurgam Trust added: “The recent evaluation of the project has provided evidence of the real impact that we have made and we are determined to continue our efforts to promote social and economic regeneration in this community.”
