A spokesperson said: “Neil has researched the Londonderry family history and can explain their lineage and, with regard to the gardens and grounds, their thinking in detail. He explained how they hoped to restore the old walled garden with an extensive collection of scented period roses.

“The next phase includes restoring old farm buildings and creating more walking trails. No garden stands still and Mount Stewart is evolving all the time.”
