Somme and 1916 exhibition events

Councillors have given approval for an expression of interest form to be circulated to constituted community groups in the Mid & East Antrim area offering the opportunity for the On the Brink- 1916: Impact & Legacy Exhibition panels to be installed for an agreed period of time at their community venue.

The motion was proposed by Cllr McKeen and generally agreed. Chief Executive Anne Donaghy said it was “very encouraging” that a number of communities had enquired about hosting the exhibition.

Meanwhile, councillors have also received an update and overview report on the preparations for the Somme Commemoration on July 1 2016.

Councillors agreed with the report’s recommendation on the establishment of and terms of reference for the Somme Centenary Festival of Remembrance Steering Group; and elected Cllr John Stewart, Cllr Gregg McKeen and Cllr Ruth Wilson to the group.
