Sophie books her ticket for Dublin Horse Show

DRAPERSTOWN pony ‘Jacodi’s Anja’s Admiral’ and little Sophie Dunn have booked their ticket for the 2012 Dublin Horse Show. The promising young six-year-old 128cm stallion is owned by Teresa McKenna from Draperstown but belongs to her six year old daughter Natalie McKenna who is a pupil of St Columba’s Primary School, Draperstown.

The pair put in a flawless performance at last weekends Mullingar RDS Pony and Young Rider Qualifier. Riding with their usual style and finesse, the final line up was defined by a tough track and three rounds of some serious jumping set by course designing supremo Raymond Jess and the duo answered all the questions asked and delivered a performance described by one onlooker as ‘watching poetry in motion’.

Sophie, riding the youngest pony in the competition went for a steady clear final round to guarantee their qualifying place with her now famous ‘beaming smile’ and delivered some skillful riding and determination well beyond her years as the pair continue to make a name for themselves in the sport of show jumping.

Natalie said “I am very excited that my pony Jodi has qualified to jump at the RDS Dublin Horse Show and I will be there to cheer him and Sophie on. Maybe someday I can jump him when I am old enough’.

Sophie and ‘Jacodi Anja’s admiral’ are 2011 Five-year-old National Discovery Champions and are sponsored by ‘Equestrian World of Maynooth’.
