Mr McHenry then took over and explained the format of the Table Quiz. He thanked Mr. Philip McGavock for kindly coming along to set up the microphone and sound system to ensure that everyone throughout the room would hear each question clearly. The first half of the evening consisted of 4 rounds including some with hand-outs of famous people and some with world maps for naming countries-some quite obscure!

At the interval Rosemary Torrens and her social committee team served a delicious supper of an impressive selection of scrumptious sandwiches and home-made cakes and tray-bakes.

The post-supper rounds produced many humorous comments from the participants and everyone enjoyed the good fun and laughter.

While the scores were being counted Joint Presidents Barbara and Elizabeth McFetridge held the raffle for the prizes of Hampers and other gifts.

Maurice McHenry then read out the scores which produced good-natured comments from the participants.

He declared the winners to be team ten who called themselves “The Flying Mallets” and included Roger Goodliffe and his wife and friends. Their team was presented with the 1st place prize and Team 8 ‘The Blurred Lines’ came 2nd being only one point behind.

Joint President Elizabeth then thanked the Quiz Master and his wife Marie who had counted the scores and checked them so meticulously. She also thanked Philip McGavock for the excellent quality of the sound production as well as the staff of Ballymoney Rugby Club for being so helpful with the preparation of the tables and giving Soroptimists access to leave items ready in the kitchen earlier in the day.

Finally she thanked everyone for coming to what all agreed had been a great evening - thoroughly enjoyed by all. She concluded by wishing everyone a safe journey home and thanking them for supporting this charity event.
