Soroptomists support Headway

Members of Ballymoney and District Soroptimists International attended Headway Causeway’s February meeting to meet with individuals living with brain injury and carers in order to find out first hand of the work of the local branch.

The group meets to provide support and information to carers of individuals affected by brain injury fulfilling its mission of improving life after brain injury at The Sandel Centre, Coleraine.

Offering an outlet for carers and individuals to meet and share experiences with their peers socially whilst participating in carer led tailored outcome based programme of activities that address some of the social, educational, health and emotional impacts that brain injury can have on carers.

Headway Causeway members also benefited from learning of the work of the local Ballymoney and District Soroptimists International branch and were provided with an overview of the work that the branch carries out in order to fulfil its mission of inspiring action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls.

The local branch raised £700 at their quiz at Ballymoney Rugby Club in October 2014 with proceeds being donated to Headway Causeway. Joyce Warmington Ballymoney and District Soroptimists International Club President said: “We were all touched and inspired by the group’s stories and felt it was clear to see the great support and benefit they get by attending the group”.

Johny Turnbull from Headway the brain injury association said: “On behalf of Headway Causeway I would like to thank Ballymoney and District Soroptimists International for their incredibly generous donation of £700.

We are very grateful for this and will put it to good use as part of our services range. The legacy of this donation will go a long way in helping our client group”.
