Southern Trust bans all visiting due to ‘increased levels’ of COVID-19

Visiting at all Southern Health Trust hositals has been banned due to ‘increased levels of COVID-19 circulating in this area’.

The Trust, which runs Craigavon, Lurgan and Daisy Hill Hospitals as well as South Tyrone, said it was issuing this ‘important visiting information this morning’.

In an online post, the Trust said: “Given the increased levels of COVID-19 currently circulating in this area in order to protect visitors, patients and staff, visiting on all sites and facilities remains temporarily suspended.

“End of life visits and birthing partners will be permitted,” it states.

“We fully appreciate this is very difficult for families, but in the interests of safety, we regret that this is absolutely necessary at this time and would ask all to fully comply with these arrangements.

“We are encouraging virtual visits for example through personal smart phone technology or relatives who need help with this can call our Virtual Visiting co-ordinator between 9am and 5pm on 077 7651 6419 to set this up with their loved on.”
