Thanks to the sterling – and competitive! - efforts of staff at SPAR Castle Street and SPAR Moyle Road, Ballycastle, SPAR Castlerock Road, Coleraine, SPAR Greystone, SPAR Kilwaughter, SPAR Templepatrick and SPAR Viking Lodge, this vital service for children and young people will continue to be there whenever it’s needed.

Staff at the stores undertook a variety of fundraising activities, including a range of raffles, collections and the brave male members of staff taking part in a moustache growing competition, raising over £2000 for the children’s charity.

NSPCC corporate fundraising executive, Marie McGuckin, said, “It is fantastic to see so many SPAR stores coming together to raise money for ChildLine. All of the funds raised will go towards helping local ChildLine services in Northern Ireland continue to give children access to confidential support when they need it, and ensure all children and young people have someone to turn to when they are in distress or danger.

“I would like to thank the staff at all of the stores for their on-going support and commitment to ChildLine.”

Louise Campbell, store manager at SPAR Castlerock Road, Coleraine, said “We have always supported ChildLine, and thought that making the fundraising a joint effort between many of the stores would be the perfect opportunity to raise even more money. All of the staff really supported each other, and spurred each other on to raise as much as we could. The rivalry between the stores certainly helped to raise those extra pounds and everyone got into the competitive spirit – all in good fun!

“We are delighted with how much we have raised, and are looking forward to future fundraising challenges for ChildLine.”
