One of the sites to receive attention from the Spark representatives was an area of land in Ballyclare which had become overgrown. A grassy area in Glen Mews had become overgrown, receiving complaints from a number of homeowners on the cul-de-sac.

On Tuesday, August 16 members of the Ballyclare Spark team spent a considerable length of time sprucing up the site. Their hard work did not go unnoticed, with a number of residents singing the group’s praises.

Kim Bell, whose mother-in-law lives in Glen Mews contacted the Times to express her gratitude. She said: “We were delighted when the Spark team consented to tidy up the ground around Glen Mews. It has been years from anything has been done. It now looks really well. We really appreciate all their hard work.”

Commenting on Facebook, one pleased resident added: “Great job done in Glen Mews. Thank you, well done.”

Laura Rafferty led the team on the clean-up. She said: “It was fantastic to be part of the project and I am honoured that I was able to come and help the people of Ballyclare.

“As well as the clean-up in Glen Mews, we also took part in a number of other projects in the Grange estate, Erskine Park and in Burnside.”

Ricky Mehaffy, Spark coordinator for the Ballyclare area added: “It is a privilege to participate in Spark and to show God’s love while giving something back to the community.”

Meanwhile, teams in Ballyduff and Rathcoole also received thanks for the clean-up operations they participated in.
