Special Olympics meeting in Ballymena on Tuesday

Special Olympics Ulster are aiming to establish a new Special Olympics Club Ten Pin Bowling Club in Ballymena to give individuals from the area the opportunity to get involved in bowling training and competition.

A meeting will be held in the Seven Towers Leisure Centre on Tuesday, August 27 (7pm) to estblish the level of interest in the idea.

A Special Olympics Ulster spokesperson said: “Taking part in Special Olympics not only has a positive effect on health and fitness but our Clubs also offer individuals the opportunity to meet with new people and develop self-esteem and communication skills and most importantly to have fun!

“We are looking for anyone interested in getting involved in a new Special Olympics Club to get in touch or to come along to an interest meeting we are holding in Ballymena.

“We also require volunteers to help with the running of a Special Olympics Club – there are various volunteer roles to get involved in and no previous sports experience is required,” the spokesperson added.
