Specsavers gives backing to hospice charity CD

SPECSAVERS at the Abbeycentre has joined forces with Spirit of Northern Ireland finalist, Una Crudden, to bring some festive cheer to the Northern Ireland Hospice this Christmas.

Through a generous donation of £700, Specsavers has helped Una to reprint her well-known Angel of Hope CD.

Despite suffering from terminal cancer, Una continues to put other people first and is a tireless fundraiser for the Hospice.

Una, a 2012 nominee for the Spirit of Northern Ireland Unsung Hero Award, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and is still undergoing gruelling courses of chemotherapy.

In 2011 the church singer fulfilled her long-held dream of recording a CD of special songs, called ‘Angel of Hope’.

Sales of the CD have, to date, raised £21,500 for the Northern Ireland Hospice.

In a bid to raise an additional £10,000 for the Hospice, Specsavers reprinted another 1,000 copies of the CD.

Copies can be purchased from the Specsavers store in Abbeycentre and all money raised will go directly to the Hospice.

Tony McGinn, store director, Abbeycentre, said: ‘Specsavers is a proud sponsor of the Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards, and when inspirational heroes like Una Crudden, who work so tirelessly to help others, ask for help, we are humbled and only too happy to do so.

“Myself, and the Specsavers staff here in the Abbeycentre store would like to encourage as many people as possible to call in and purchase a copy the Angel of Hope CD while stocks last.”
