Store directors Lynn Mackey and Judith Ball are proud to announce that their Coleraine store is now Dementia Friendly.

The store is one of only a few businesses in the local area who have achieved the accreditation after all 32 staff completed a training programme provided by the Alzheimer’s Society.

Judith Ball, store director, said, “A dementia diagnosis brings a number of challenges not only for the individual but also for his or her family and friends. It can also become increasingly difficult for the person to engage in the community particularly when people around them don’t really understand the illness.”

“We decided to do the training to help all of our team to better understand how dementia can affect people so that we can give them a better service. It was a very rewarding learning process and we now feel better equipped with the necessary skills to support all of our customers.”
