Speculation dispelled over ‘Super Council’ job losses
Local speculation over the potential for significant job losses amongst Ballymena Council’s workforce as a result of the new ‘Super Council’ creation has been dispelled.
A Council spokesperson stated: “We can confirm that as a result of coming into being of Mid and East Antrim Council on April 1, 2015, all existing employees of Ballymena Borough Council will automatically transfer into the employment of Mid and East Antrim Council.
“A very small number of existing employees have made applications for a voluntary severance package and these applications are currently being progressed as part of the appointment of management structures for the new council,” the Ballymena Council added.
