Speed message

PEOPLE racing through Waringstown got a message on their speed last week as the police speed check mobile stopped in the village.

The mobile - which flashes a driver's speed to them on an LED sign as they approach - was stopped in Waringstown last Wednesday following calls from residents for action over speeders.

At a recent District Policing Partnership (DPP) meeting, residents asked for action on people who put lives at risk speeding through the town.

Local police chief Jason Murphy said: "At the DPP residents voiced their concerns and we are always keen to respond to issues.

"We as police have to be able to balance the needs of the community with policing.

"This was a community driven issue and we are happy to interact with and target the needs of people in every area."
