Speed plan for Rosses unveiled

Roads Service is planning to introduce a 20mph speed limit in the Rosses estate, Ballymena borough councillors have been told.

In correspondence on the issue, presented to a Council committee meeting, last Thursday night, Ivan Penney of DRD Roads Service Traffic Management stated that The Rosses had been identified as suitable for one of a number of 20mph speed limit pilots being planned province-wide. These will be signed only, without any additional measures provided such as speed humps and road markings,

Proposing that Council support the move, Cllr John Carson said he had campaigned to reduce the speed of vehicles in the vicinity of The Rosses. He was seconded by Cllr Jimmy McClean and supported by Cllrs, Billy Henry, Declan O’Loan and Martin Clarke.
