Speeding student

AN 18-year-old student has been fined £150 and given four penalty points when she appeared at North Antrim Magistrates Court last Wednesday on a speeding summons.

Samantha Calderwood, of 79 Glenbuck Road, Dunloy, admitted the offence which took place on October 28 last.

The court was told that the defendant, a student at Dalriada Grammar School, was detected travelling at 62 miles per hour inside the '30' zone.

A solicitor for defendant said his client took the matter very seriously and she was well aware of the jepoardy she had put herself in.
