Sperrin College goes for gold!

SPERRIN College in Magherafelt has scooped the prestigious Gold Award from the UK wide organisation Heads, Teachers and Industry (HTI).

The award is presented to schools who have achieved outstanding performances in innovation and creativity.

Go4It schools have a philosophy that promotes and celebrates achievement, aspiration and raising standards in all aspects of their curriculum and pastoral provision.

This award recognises the hard work that all staff, governors, parents and pupils have put into the development of the school. And it comes as Sperrin College celebrates its ten year anniversary.

Mrs Hunter and Mrs Heron, both Vice Principals at Sperrin travelled to London recently to receive the award which was presented by Dr David Armstrong, Consulting Partner of Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Mr Mike Giddings, Chief Executive of HTI.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Hunter said that Sperrin College was a truly creative and innovative organisation from its inception.

“The whole team has developed and created a school that inspires pupils to achieve and to develop skills needed to transform lives through educational opportunity. Central to our ethos is the core belief that pupils can achieve regardless of academic ability,” she said.

Mr Rowan, Principal is delighted with the school’s outstanding achievement.

He said that this award is in recognition of the huge efforts made by parents, pupils and staff to provide quality Integrated Education in Magherafelt.
