Splash the cash for RNLI say Bob and Berts

Bob and Berts coffee shops in Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart are encouraging customers to ‘splash the cash’ to support their chosen charity this year.

It’s hoped that the collaboration with one of the best known local family owned coffee chops and the RNLI will raise much needed funds for the charity which saves many thousands of lives at sea every year.

Shelley Pinkerton, Chair of the RNLI Fundraising Committee said: ‘We are thrilled that Bob and Berts has chosen RNLI and decided to work with us as their Charity of the Year.

“The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and we rely solely on volunteers to provide this lifesaving service.

“In the UK last year we aided or rescued nearly 25,000 people and would you believe that 92% of our income comes from donations.

“We are looking forward to introducing some new events in conjunction with the three Bob and Berts facilities to add to our exciting fundraising programme throughout 2014/15.

Colin McClean, owner of Bob and Berts, said: “Bob and Berts is excited about backing the RNLI.

“We hope to highlight the hard work and dedication of the volunteer crews who do such an important job.

“On average around three people die in UK coastal waters every week so we would encourage everyone to get involved and raise some funds with us over the year.

“As well as in-store events such as coffee mornings and collections we will be out and about in our mobile tea / coffee van helping the Portrush RNLI Fundraising team with their efforts. “
