Sponsored Walk for Can Can Raises £1,675

CAN Can Recycling held a sponsored walk on Saturday 7th August to help raise vital funds for the Can Can project and are delighted to say it was a great success.

Over 40 people turned up on the day to walk the 8 mile coastal route from Portrush to Portstewart and back again.

Everyone at Can Can would like to say a huge thank-you to all those who took part in the walk and also to anyone who made donations. We are extremely pleased to announce that we raised 1,675 on the day and donations are still coming in.

Among the 40 people who took part in the sponsored walk were staff and members from Compass Advocacy Network who guided the group of walkers.

The sun was shining and everyone was able to enjoy the beautiful view of the Causeway Coast as they walked from Portrush to Portstewart. Members would also like to say a big thank-you to ASDA Coleraine and Lynas’ Food Service who very kindly donated bottled water and a selection of fresh fruit for all the walkers, keeping everyone hydrated and energised along the route.

Clare Carson from Can Can Recycling stated: “I am so pleased with the turnout and the generous donations that we have received. All money raised from the walk means we are able do team building activities with our trainees and it will also help with the move to our new premises at 22 Seymour Street, Ballymoney.”

The Can Can Recycling project comes under the umbrella of Compass Advocacy Network, who promote empowerment and advocacy to young people and adults with learning disabilities. Can Can is a recycling project that collects and recycles waste materials such as aluminium, clothes, ink cartridges and mobile phones and through doing this it provides training and work opportunities to adults with learning difficulties.
