Spooky sports this Halloween

THE Banks of the Foyle Halloween Carnival 2010 sees a whole host of activities coming to the city including some spooky sports events.

Organised by Derry City Council's Sports Development Section, the events will see kids of all ages getting the chance to enjoy a variety of Sports from Dance, Cricket, Boxercise, judo and rugby as well as others.

The spooky sports kick off on Thursday October 28th at the Diamond Centre in Claudy, with the Mini-Tots Halloween Activities from 10am to 12pm.

This fun-filled morning of Halloween themed activities for pre-school kids (2-5 years) includes dance, gymnastics, face painting and arts and crafts.

This is followed by the first of two Halloween Multi-Sports fun days on Friday the 29th October at St Columb's Park Leisure Centre from 10 am – 2.00pm for kids aged from 6 – 11years.

The second Halloween Multi-Sports fun day will be held on the 1st November at Brooke Park Leisure Centre at 10am-2.00pm.

George McGowan, from Derry City Council Sports Development Section, said this year's events will be great fun for all the family and is encouraging children to dress up for the activities.

He added: "The Sports Development Section have organized a number of events for this year's Banks of the Foyle Halloween Carnival, with a wide range of activities at each.

"Whether you're into football or dance there really is something for everyone, and with plenty of Halloween themed activities as well, there should be lots of 'spooky' fun for all the family.

"We hope that all those who come along to the camps will make it a more enjoyable experience by arriving in their Halloween Costumes."
