Sports Minister visits Holy Trinity College

SPORTS Minister, Carál Ní Chuilín MLA, joined pupils in a game of Handball last week at Holy Trinity College.

The Minister, who was accompanied by Francie Molloy MLA, was visiting the College as part of the celebrations for the recently crowned All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Champions, Cookstown Fr Rocks.

Team Manager John Mc Keever, who teaches PE in the College, was delighted that the Minister was able to take time from her busy schedule to visit the Fr. Rocks Club and Holy Trinity College to personally congratulate both himself, the team and senior student James Mc Gahan, who scored an excellent goal during the final.

Despite the hectic handball strategies, Isabel Russell, Principal of Holy Trinity College, was able to discuss plans for the new School Build which has been recently announced, and how this was a real opportunity to build upon existing links with the Fr. Rocks Club with what is already a Sports designated College.

“This is an ideal time to ensure state of the art sporting facilities to serve both the College and the wider community, to improve not only sporting opportunities for everyone, but also to bring positive benefits in terms of health and well-being,” Mrs Russell stated.
