Spring Chickens perform

The Portstewart based and internationally acclaimed group held a ground-breaking event last year to celebrate the creativity and imaginations of older people.

This year's Spring Chickens Two presents 10 different shows in 10 venues throughout Age Awareness Week 2010.

Templer Court was the venue for the Armagh show.

Funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies, Spring Chickens is the innovative creative arts project which focuses on increasing creative expression and engagement with the older community across Northern Ireland. All the shows are written, designed and performed entirely by local older people.

The Spring Chickens Programme always welcomes new participants. In keeping with the Spring Chickens ethos, the uniquely themed productions require anyone over 60 years old to take part in the planning workshops, perform live or just play an integral role on stage in each of the shows. You don’t have to have any performing experience, just an enthusiasm to participate.

Barbara from Templer Court said: "Last year was my first experience of the Big Telly Spring Chickens Programme which I thoroughly enjoyed and I'm looking forward enormously to participating this year again."

Jenny Long, the Armagh Show Regional Director said: "I am really delighted to be working on this Spring Chickens Show, as last year’s show was such a joy.

"Now the word has spread and many more people want to join us so this year’s show is shaping up to be just as exciting as the last."
