This year, the club elected to support the work of the Wave Trauma Centre in Ballymoney.

The overall aim of WAVE is to offer care and support to anyone bereaved, injured or traumatised through the civil unrest in Northern Ireland, irrespective of religious, cultural or political belief.

The philosophy and ethos of the organisation is one of inclusiveness i.e. anyone bereaved or traumatised—those physically impaired as a result of the violence in Northern Ireland and those who care for them. WAVE promotes a respect for life and an understanding of difference that is seen as enhancing rather than threatening.

It affirms and acknowledges that there are ways of resolving difference other than through the use of violence and continually seeks creative ways of working through issues that have the potential to divide.

Ali McAllister, Lady Captain of Springwell Running Club, said: “I wish Wave continued success with the wonderful work they do for the local and wider community.” Sonja Tammen, Project Manager at WAVE Ballymoney, highlighted: “We are very grateful for the generous donation, and we can ensure the members of Springwell Running Club that we will use the money wisely.”

Sonya also gave Springwell a lovely thank you card for thinking of them.

Springwell Running Club welcomes new members, and additional information can be found at www.springwellrunners.com.
