SRC results improve again

A-LEVEL results at Southern Regional College have improved, yet again, delivering well above average pass rates.

An outstanding 99% of students taking A-levels achieved a pass, with 78% achieving A* to C Grades. Fourteen out of the seventeen subjects offered achieved 100% pass rate with the remaining three subjects achieving above 90% pass rate.

Some outstanding results came from Stephen Weller from Markethill who achieved 3 A grades at A level and 1 A at AS level and hopes to progress to study medicine at Queens. Naomi Abraham achieved 3 A grades and will be studying pharmacy at Queens. Darren O’Hagan, Emma Alderdice, Jill Frazer, Kathy McKinstry and Laura Nesbitt and Lauren Henry also did exceptionally well achieving 3 A grades.

There were also some excellent results for the ‘AS’ Level students. Eleanor Quin and Jason Megarity achieved four A grades with Faith Henning, Rebecca Jenkinson, Jonathan Meaklim and Connie McAlister all achieving three A grades. Hazel Flannigan, who is registered blind, achieved a grade C in her ‘AS’ level English literature.

Carolyn Davison, Head of School of General Studies commented: “I am absolutely delighted with these results. This is testament to the dedication and commitment of staff and students on the Armagh Campus. This has enabled our students to accept places on a diverse range of university provision.”

Many students have been accepted onto courses in Accounting, Architecture, Business, Chemistry, Computing, Dietetics, Dentistry, Drama, Engineering, French, Geography, History, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy, Radiography and Physics.

Southern Regional College offers a wide range of A Level, AS and National Diploma courses. The College has received a 30% increase in application courses for entry in 2010. An SRC Clearing Day is planned on Tuesday 31 August at 2pm on all our campuses to inform students of any available places on our courses. This event will be open to prospective students who are unable to obtain a place or any late applicants.
