St Brigid's School makes science count!

ST Brigid's Primary School visited W5 this week as part of Northern Bank Science Counts, an exciting education partnership with W5, Northern Ireland's award-winning interactive discovery centre.

The initiative, now in its fourth year, offers a fun-filled educational experience for children showing science and maths in action. To date 110 schools and nearly 10,000 children have participated in the programme, which offers a series of hands-on Maths and Science challenges.

St Brigid’s pupils were treated to a fun maths problem solving challenge by the educational team from W5 as well as getting the opportunity to explore and enjoy W5’s 200 hands-on exhibits.

Sally Montgomery, Chief Executive of W5 explained: "St Brigid’s Primary School’s visit to W5 is part of the Northern Bank Science Counts programme which is a fantastic partnership and a huge hit with schools. Science Counts allows us to reach and include smaller schools who often find it hard to visit us. The programme reaches out to all parts of the community with the two key elements of maths and science bringing our workshops and magical science show right into the classrooms to support teachers.”

Rhonda Gibson, External Relations Manager, Northern Bank added, "supporting children to see maths at work all around them in everyday life is an important part of our community programme. Science Counts makes maths and science fun and relevant for children - bringing the magic of W5 to classrooms across Northern Ireland or enabling pupils to explore maths in action at the discovery centre. Ensuring that learning can be fun encourages confidence and enthusiasm and we are delighted to play our part in bringing this opportunity to schools in partnership with W5.”
