Pupils presented a cheque to Cancer Fund for Children after completing the charity’s ‘ReadOn’ challenge which is sponsored by EUROSPAR and ViVOXTRA. ReadOn encourages children to read for fun whilst raising vital funds to support local children diagnosed cancer.

Rebecca Oates, Schools and Youth Fundraiser said; “We could not support these families if it wasn’t for the energy and enthusiasm of schools like St Colm’s High School.”

As the leading local children’s cancer charity Cancer Fund for Children understands the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis and treatment can have on the whole family. The charity’s team of Specialists work in the community, hospital and in the family home providing practical, financial and emotional support to over 350 families and over 800 children every year.

Cancer Fund for Children also offers free therapeutic short breaks at Daisy Lodge their purpose-built therapeutic centre in Newcastle Co. Down for families affected by cancer. A short break at Daisy Lodge is not a holiday in the traditional sense but is a nurturing place where families can relax and spend precious time together far removed from the busy round of medical appointments, hospital wards and invasive treatments.
