Next Sunday, October 5, Trinity 16, is Harvest Thanksgiving at St Columb’s Cathedral, when the preacher at Choral Eucharist at 11am, and at Choral Evensong at 4pm, will be the former Archdeacon of Raphoe, The Venerable Scott Harte, MA.

As is the case every Sunday, there will also be an early celebration of The Holy Communion at 8am.

Sincere thanks are due to all who so kindly supply produce and help decorate the Cathedral so beautifully for Harvest.

The Deputy Governor of The Honourable The Irish Society, Simon Duckworth, and some members of The Society, hope to be in attendance for Choral Evensong together with about 30 members of The Millennium Masters Association who are all past masters of Livery Companies of the City of London.

Food Bank

In appreciation of all God’s blessings, and in keeping with the tradition at harvest time of contributing to those less fortunate than ourselves, we are appealing for contributions of non-perishable food.

“If you are doing your shopping perhaps you would like to purchase a few items, they don’t have to be expensive, and bring them to the Cathedral during the week, or next Sunday, in aid of those who are in need,” said the Dean of Derry, Very Rev Dr William Morton.

“Your contributions, which will be most gratefully received, will later be passed on to The Rotary Foyle Foodbank in London Street, Londonderry, the opening hours of which are Monday, Tuesday & Friday 12pm to 1.30pm. Your response will be very much appreciated indeed,” he said.
