St Columb’s Cathedral: Spring Lecture

The Spring Lecture of The Friends of the Cathedral will be held in Saint Columb’s Cathedral tomorrow, Thursday, at 7.45pm, when the address will be given by Manus
Deery, RIBA.

Mr Deery is the Principal Conservation Architect with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency in Belfast and will speak about the history of the city as revealed by its buildings with reference to his recently published, and beautifully illustrated, book, ‘Marks of Time’, which was also the title of the exhibition of his line drawings which was held last year in The Playhouse Theatre, Artillery Street.

In extending an invitation to all who would like to attend the meeting, the Dean of Derry, Very Rev Dr William Morton, said: “The Spring Lecture promises to be extremely interesting in that it will reflect Manus’s tremendous knowledge of the architecture of so many buildings in this wonderful city.

“Through his work with NIEA, Manus was extremely helpful in the restoration of St Columb’s Cathedral. We appreciate also his great support in the on-going restoration of the Cathedral School in London Street.”
