St Comgall's earns excellence award

REPRESENTATIVES of St Comgall's College have been presented with a prestigious award for the outstanding work carried out at the school.

The Larne school received the Northern Ireland EFQM Quality Award at a ceremony held in the Ramada Hotel, Belfast.

This scheme measures Northern Ireland’s private, public and voluntary organisations against the globally-recognised European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model.

Organisations participating in this Excellence Framework benefit from an in-depth review and assessment of their operations. The assessment process compares performance against internationally recognised concepts of excellence using Europe’s most widely used management framework, the EFQM excellence model.

The ceremony was compered by BBC presenter Wendy Austin and key guests included Bob Barbour, chief executive of the Centre for Competiveness; Stuart Gunning, Northgate; and Gavin Boyd, Education Skills Authority.

Mr Barbour presented the prestigious award to principal, Miss Cathy Gormley, and members of the board of governors Sean Doherty and Anne McCaughan.

Miss Gormley stated that she was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the whole college community– students, parents and staff.

She explained that the rigorous assessment process had focused on the College’s journey towards excellence over the past five years. vernors over two days.

“St Comgall’s has demonstrated significant tangible and measurable results which have impacted positively on its performance,” he said.
