St John's PS Kingsisland camogs narrowly miss out on second Tyrone title

St John's PS Kingsisland, the outgoing Primary Schools Indoor Camogie Tyrone Champions, were narrowly defeated in an exciting tournament in Omagh on Friday, which saw Roan PS Eglish crowned winners.

Principal, Philip O’Neill, praised the young players for their efforts in what was a closely fought contest.

“The girls did really well today”, Mr O’Neill told the TIMES.

“They beat Strabane and drew with Roan and Killyclogher in their group games. This meant they qualified for the semi-final. They played Carrickmore and were eventually defeated 2-1. The disappointment soon subsided when they stopped at Kelly’s Garvaghey for some light refreshments!”

The Kingsisland girls earned their place in the county final after emerging victorious from the East Tyrone heat held in Loughview Sports Centre on January 20.
