Alisija Sestakova, Ciara McMullan and Olivia Foley from St Louis Grammar School showed what really can be made from almost nothing as they submitted designs using various sorts of junk for the popular annual recycled fashion competition.

They are through to the regional final of the Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture competition for their designs Forest Fairy, Wired-In For Sound and Berry Bliss, respectively.

Elizabeth Curran, co-founder of Junk Kouture said: “The standard this year was exceptionally high which made our decisions extremely difficult and the number of entries this year was even greater than years before. We are really looking forward to our live shows across the country and we hope everyone will come support their local talent.”

All of the respective regional finalists of the Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture recycled fashion competition

will storm the catwalk in The Helix on March 6, Millenium Forum Derry on March 9, The Royal Theatre Castlebar on March 11 and the University Concert Hall Limerick on March 13. The Grand Final featuring the top 80 dresses will take place in the 3Arena, Dublin, on April 24.

Secondary schools from every part of the country submitted designs which will be showcased at the Northern regional final on March 9. Tickets for the event are on sale now from Millennium Forum’s box office.
