Mrs Fender also came to learn from the expertise of staff in the school which was judged in its most recent inspection to range from Very Good to Outstanding.

Astrid got to meet with students and teachers and tell them about what school is like in Schuttdorf and how the German curriculum is different to that of Northern Ireland. During her time in Ballycastle she was able to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as the Shared Education project and sacramental preparation.

The staff and pupils from St Patrick’s and St Brigid’s Primary School would like to thank Astrid for taking the time to come to the school and for the experiences and insights she gave. Anne Marie Fitzpatrick, International Schools co-ordinator, commented that: “Astrid was an excellent addition to our teaching staff. She was easy to work with and helped the children understand what life is like in Germany in a fun and engaging way.”
