Staff at Eurospar Lagmore raise over £17k

Proprietors Henry and Joanne Curran trekked along the Inca trail in May 2012, while, as recently as December past, staff’s All Wrapped Up Christmas Jumper Day netted £1,200.

The store owners have thanked enthusiastic staff for helping them reach a total of £17,176.

The money will help provide practical, emotional and financial support and free short breaks to local families whose lives are affected by cancer.

Cancer Fund for Children fundraiser, Sorcha Chipperfield said: “Everyone at the charity is ecstatic that this one store has brought in so much money that will enable us to continue our vital work.

“I would say a massive thank-you to all of the staff and customers from Eurospar Lagmore for their fantastic fundraising.”

The Cancer Fund for Children was established in 1973, to provide practical, emotional and financial support to children and young people aged 0 to 24 affected by cancer, and their families.

The charity relies on donations and volunteers to continue to deliver support services.

Cancer Fund for Children also offers free therapeutic short breaks at its new Daisy Lodge facility in Newcastle and Pine and Birch cottages in Coleraine to families from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The team of specialists offers support at home, in the community, on the hospital ward, at the short break facility and during residential breaks at their purpose-built Narnia log cabin.

The team helps families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives.

It supports them through life, both during and after treatment, and sadly in some cases, bereavement.
