On Tuesday workers were locked out of the premises on the Lisnasure Road as administrator James Neill moved in.

The firm is part of TB Lyttle and Sons trading as Lisnasure Interiors and Hanna & Browne Giftwares. It is thought there are up to 20 employees at the local store who face losing their posts. However, the Mail understands workers were told the store may be open in two weeks’ time, though this was not confirmed by the administrators.

Customers and creditors have been told to contact the administrator regarding any queries. The administrator told the Mail the general downturn in trading conditions was to blame.

The administrator said the downturn plus a ‘significant change’ in spending patterns resulted in a ‘marked deterioration’ in finances plus ‘significant cash flow’ issues. An immediate assessment of the trading and financial position of the partnership is being undertaken ‘with a view to maintaining the going concern of the business’.

“Once this is complete we will have a clearer picture of future options. Our immediate priority is to communicate with the key stakeholders of the business including employees, customers, suppliers and landlords.”

MLA Stephen Moutray said: “It’s very disappointing. It is a great blow to the local economy and the community.
