They will be joining hundreds of people across Northern Ireland who will be sponsored to wear wacky wigs for the annual fundraiser, dubbed Wig Wednesday.

Money raised from the event on May 20 will go towards the charity’s work supporting children and young people with cancer. It is also a chance for people to show support for those who may lose their hair through cancer treatment.

Margaret McAteer from the club said: “I along with the rest of the bar staff will be wigging up for the whole day and Fergie Hall will be brightening up our over 50s club on the Thursday with his wig as well!

“We got involved as we like to support as many charities as we can. Wig Wednesday caught my attention as it was something different and it’s supporting a really good cause, so we just thought why not have a bit of a laugh for the day?”

Nadine Campbell, CLIC Sargent area fundraising manager, said: “We can’t wait to see everyone’s new colourful hairdos and we’re delighted the RAOB Social Club is taking part in this year’s Wig Wednesday.

“Every week in Northern Ireland two families are given the devastating news that their child or young person has cancer. All the money raised from Wig Wednesday goes towards CLIC Sargent’s work providing practical, emotional and financial support for families whose lives have been turned upside down by cancer.
