Stay secure ad don’t let ‘Willie Nickit’

To promote this message, a back of bus advertising campaign was launched this week as part of the overall Christmas Crime Prevention Campaign.

At the start of December, the renowned ‘Willie Nickit’ character made an appearance to promote the annual campaign and urge people to take care, both of themselves and their valuables. The Chairman of the Lisburn PCSP, Councillor Stephen Magennis, speaking as the first Lisburn bus departed from the local bus station, said “We cannot remind people enough of the importance of looking after themselves and their belongings, particularly at Christmas when there are gifts bought to give to friends and family. Make sure they are out of sight and not placed below Christmas trees, visible from outside your home. Unfortunately there are real-life ‘Willie Nickit’ criminals who will invade your home and steal your personal belongings. My message to you is clear; make sure you do not invite unwanted visitors into your home by being relaxed about your security.

During December, crime prevention stands have been at numerous venues right across the City and useful information as well as practical crime prevention material was distributed, all of which is aimed at reinforcing the ‘Stay Safe Stay Secure’ message ensuring a happy and crime free Christmas and New Year”.
