Adrian Forsythe, from Beechway in the town, was charged with driving without due care and attention on April 11 this year.

The court heard how the cyclist was wearing high vis clothing, but that Forsythe hadn’t seen him.

In Forsythe’s defence, counsel told the court that the cyclist also told police that he had not seen Forsythe’s car either.

Passing Judgement, John Meehan asked the defence how the injured party’s picture had ended up on Facebook, but was told that Forsythe did not have a Facebook page.

He was ordered to pay £200 plus an offender’s levy of £15. He will also have five points added to three existing points on his licence.
