Stephen named top young innovator

STEPHEN Hinds, a Year 13 pupil at The Wallace High School recently won the FM Environmental award at Sentinus Young Innovators at the Odyssey Arena having designed a UV water filtering system for use in developing countries.

As part of the competition he had to explain his product to three separate panels of judges and comment on how he would manufacture this product on a large scale for use in the developing world.

Commenting on his success Stephen said: “I’m delighted to have won an award in such a prestigious competition. I enjoyed designing and making the water filtering system and it was a real challenge having to present my product in front of panels of judges.”
