Stepping out in Glenarm

A GENTLE coastal walk is kicking off the new season of walks in Glenarm.

Glenarm walk leaders and the village committee invite walkers to assemble at the tourist office at 2.30 on Sunday, January 17 for a leisurely ramble along the coast to the Batchelors Path and from there to the Straidkelly Nature Reserve.

There they might be able to see some members of the colony of red squirrels fed by volunteer members of the local wildlife group.

While most of the route will be firm paths, sturdy footwear should be worn given the wet conditions and walking sticks or poles are advisable.

Cost is 2 per person and refreshments will be served after the walk. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by parents.

The programme of walks for 2010 is currently being prepared and will be available soon.
