This is according to statistics published by the Department of Employment and Learning.

While the average number of participants in the ‘Steps to Work’ programme who gained full time employment between September 2008 and June 2012 was 19 per cent, Network Personnel, who deliver the programme in the North West area, had a success rate of 24 peer cent.

And in the New Deal for Disabled People programme, Network Personnel achieved a success rate of 46 per cent against a Department of Employment & Learning target of 25 per cent.

Cathy McGarvey, the newly promoted General Manager of Network Personnel, welcomed the results and said the organisation is continuing to strive for even higher success rates.

“Training and development programmes such as Steps to Work and New Deal for the Disabled can play a significant role in helping people gain the skills and confidence to secure long term work,” she added.

Workspace Group Chief Executive, Brian Murray said Cathy’s appointment provides an opportunity to improve on its delivery of Steps to Work and all employment and training programmes in the area.
