Stevenson condemns Claudy vandalism

A POST box and road sign were ripped out of the ground during a spate of vandalism in Claudy on Friday.

SDLP councillor Brenda Stevenson condemned the wanton destruction stating: "Those who are carrying out these mindless acts of vandalism have no place in our community.

"This village is situated in an area of natural beauty. The people who live in the village and surrounding areas are fed up of this type of behaviour and want it stopped.

"I will be calling on the PSNI to step up their patrols in the village, particularly at weekends when we are being subjected to wanton destruction and the scourge of the boy racers.

"The people doing this know who they are and I am appealing to them to stop this as a matter of urgency, it is not only unsightly, unwanted but it is extremely dangerous."

She appealed to anyone who has any information about these incidents to pass it on to the relevant authorities.
